When doing a landscape I hope to elicit a response from the viewer. The work for me is more complicated and emotional than just recording a view. I try to isolate and memorize a special moment that I've experienced in nature. I am by nature very intuitive so I usually start with merely a color combination that I've fallen in love with.

About
The artist Cynthia Hoppin Shuler has an extensive and impressive resumé of training and exhibition. Studying first in San Antonio, Texas, she won a competitive Fine Art scholarship to the University of Texas, Austin. She completed her B.F.A. at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio), with further studies under Beauvais Lyons at the University of Tennessee. She later studied in Italy under Jura Bedic at the Florence Academy of Art.
She has exhibited in one and two man shows in several states, and has competed in international, national, and regional shows, winning acclaim and awards multiple times. Shuler has been represented by galleries in Tennessee, Florida, and South Carolina, and her work is in private collections in North America, Europe, SE Asia, and Latin America. Her painting reveals a combination of impressionistic and expressionistic influences, with a rich pallet of joyous color. She delights in the range of light, color, and subject matter available
